INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC)
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) is a crucial component dedicated to promoting a safe and respectful environment particularly for girls and women within the institution. It operates in accordance with the guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC), ensuring that any issues related to sexual harassment and discrimination are addressed without delay with sensitivity and effectiveness.
Objectives of the ICC:
The primary objectives of the ICC at Patkai Christian College are as follows:
- Prevention: To create awareness and prevent instances of sexual harassment and discrimination within the college campus and the community.
- Redressal: To provide a safe and confidential platform for individuals to report and seek redressal for any such incidents.
- Awareness: To educate students, faculty, and staff about their rights and responsibilities regarding these issues.
Mechanism of the ICC:
The ICC operates through a structured mechanism:
- Receiving Complaints: The ICC accepts complaints through various channels, ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of the complainant.
- Investigation: A thorough and impartial investigation is conducted to assess the veracity of the complaint.
- Action: Based on the investigation, the ICC takes appropriate actions, which can include recommendations, disciplinary actions, or legal interventions.
Functions of the ICC:
The ICC performs several functions and activities:
- Awareness: It conducts awareness programmes to educate the college community about sexual harassment and discrimination issues.
- Complaint Handling: The ICC handles complaints sensitively, respecting the rights and dignity of the complainants.
- The College has zero tolerance to sexual harassment and any such reported incident if any are dealt with confidentiality and instantly.

STUDENTS GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE (SGRC)
The Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) is a mandatory component in all higher educational institutions, including affiliated colleges, as prescribed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Its primary purpose is to create a safe, fair, and transparent academic environment by addressing the grievances of students in a structured and without delay.
The SGRC of Patkai Christian College plays a critical role in maintaining a healthy academic atmosphere and ensuring student satisfaction by resolving issues related to academics, facilities, administration, and other areas of concern in the campus.

ANTI-RAGGING COMMITTEE
The Anti-Ragging Committee in affiliated colleges is a mandatory statutory body established in accordance with guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and NAAC. Its primary objective is to prohibit, prevent, and address incidents of ragging in educational institutions to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
As per the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, an Anti-Ragging Committee has been formed with a mandate of strict compliance with anti-ragging norms as part of quality and accreditation frameworks.
At Patkai Christian College all students, juniors and especially freshers are welcomed, made to be felt secure and integrated as a family from the date of entrant to the college until the entire period of residency and any instances of ragging whether in classrooms, library, canteen, hostels or play ground are not tolerated.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Anti-Ragging Committee:
- Frame and enforce regulations to prevent ragging on campus.
- Display anti-ragging posters and helpline numbers in prominent locations.
- Organize awareness programs, seminars, and workshops for students and staff.
- Conduct surprise checks in hostels, classrooms, and common areas.
- Accept and address complaints through a transparent, confidential mechanism.
- Maintain and review records of complaints and actions taken.
- Recommend disciplinary actions including:
- Warning or apology
- Suspension or rustication
- Withholding scholarships or examination rights
- Debarring from representation or placements
- FIRs in serious cases
- Submit annual compliance reports to regulatory bodies.

PROMOTION OF EQUITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The SC/ST Committee at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) is a body constituted as per guidelines from the UGC, AICTE, and NAAC to safeguard the interests and welfare of students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The committee ensures that these students are not subjected to discrimination and have equal opportunities to succeed academically and socially. The committee oversees the implementation of reservation policies, extend support services, and provide a redressal mechanism in cases of grievances, ensures inclusivity and equity in higher education institutions. Accordingly, a Committee is formed in the College.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Redressal of Grievances:Address complaints of discrimination or harassment faced by SC/ST students.
- Counselling & Guidance:Provide academic, emotional, and career counselling to SC/ST students to help them adjust and thrive in college life.
- Monitoring and Implementation:Ensure implementation of UGC/AICTE reservation norms in admissions, scholarships, fellowships, and hostel allocations.
- Awareness Programmes:Organise seminars, workshops, and sensitization programs for students and faculty to foster social inclusion.
- Support in Academic Matters:Help SC/ST students access remedial coaching, language labs, and tutorial assistance where needed.
- Liaison Work:Coordinate with the college administration to ensure policy compliance and student welfare.
- Annual Reporting:Maintain records and submit periodic reports on the committee’s activities to the college authorities and regulatory bodies.
