DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) was formed on 15th July 1948 through an act of the Parliament of India, with ‘Unity and Discipline’ as its motto. It aims to develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country; so as to create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and be always available for the service of the nation. As a premier youth based voluntary organization in the country, it recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India and grooms them to become responsible citizens of our society and the country at large.
The National Cadet Corps, Patkai Christian College, since its formation in 1988, has always been an active organization, playing its responsible role in various functions and activities, both within and outside the college. Today, the college has two NCC Units, the Air Wing, attached to 1 (NL) AIR SQN (FLGT), NCC, Dimapur and the Army Wing (Girls) attached to 1 (NL) Girls Battalion, NCC, Kohima. In addition, the college was also a part of the 38 autonomous colleges in India exclusively selected by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to start NCC as an elective subject with credit points with effect from academic session 2013-14. The NCC Units of the college is now being taken care of two trained Associates NCC Officers (ANOs); Lieutenant Neha Gupta (Asstt. Professor, English Department) and Flying Officer Wetshete Thopi (Asstt. Professor, Political Science Department), who completed their trainings at Officers’ Training Academy, Gwalior and Kamptee respectively.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
1. Cadet Kalam was awarded 1st position in painting during the National Integration Camp held at Mumbai.
2. NCC, Patkai, secured 1st position in Group dance and runners-up in NIAP at NIC, Mumbai.
3. The NCC Unit of the college emerged the winners in the National Integration Awareness Program and Group dance competition during the Special National Integration Camp 2017.
4. Cadets, Thejano and Shangtajonliu were awarded the annual NCC Cadet Welfare Scholarship for the academic year 2016-17.
5. Two cadets, Thejano and Asuno were selected to attend the prestigious Army Attachment Camp at Officers’ Training Academy, Gwalior to be held in April 2016.
Communication Skills :
Communication Skills are designed to allow candidates to develop and refine expertise in different registers of communication through spoken English. Exams for individuals assess a candidate’s ability to engage with analytical and critical concepts, to persuade, to negotiate, to summarise and to communicate information, ideas and opinions in a variety of contexts.
Exam for groups additionally offer candidates opportunities to develop skills in group discussion, interaction and teamwork. At most grades candidates are required to respond to a range of imagined scenarios and employ verbal and non-verbal skills and responses appropriate to them. Candidates’ level of success in these exams depends on their ability to recognise and employ the different communication skills appropriate for each task.
In assessing candidates for both individual and group exams, examiners will pay attention to the content of talks and presentations and to the effectiveness of their delivery. Teachers and candidates are advised to read this booklet carefully prior to preparing for exams.
Objectives :
